My journey to a healthier lifestyle
From the very beginning..... When I was pregnant with Keilyn I gained weight that I thought I would never loose. I was 145-150 before I got pregnant and 198 the day I had her and she only weighed 6.14 after that my weight teetered around 190-200 with Willie I got up over 210. And with Casey I lost some--down to 185 before going back up to 195-200 and I lost all hope of ever seeing the lower side of the scale again. Then right before I had Mason I decided it was going to be different this time, I was going to loose the weight no matter what it took. I was at 179 2 weeks after Mason was born and Breast fed him till 5 weeks, at that time My Dr. gave me a appetite suppressant to "kick start" my diet, and it worked!! I lost about 10 lbs. in that first month(on the pills) and have kept it off...plus shed nearly 9 more lbs. for a total (today) of 19 lbs. down to size 11/12 from 16 /18. I feel fanfreakintactic! The changes I made where changes I can stick too for good, like no cokes (could not say goodbye to my sweet tea tho) very rarely eat sweets of any kind I no longer eat fried foods I grill, bake or pan sear my foods, I eat very little beef anymore but when I do I try to cut my portion at least in half. I eat lots of grilled chicken salad lots of veggies, I have newly discovered brussel sprouts...yum! I also eat lots of weight watchers and lean cuisine meals. I still cook the food my family likes to eat and if it isnt loaded with calories and fat I will eat a small portion of it, but if not I eat a salad or frozen meal. And as for the exercising portion of my lifestyle change I did a cardio/core training dvd for over a month, to the point I was completely exhausted, so I gave it a rest. in lieu of cooler weather I started walking (today was my first day) I put the boys in the wagon and took a walk, Casey was scared he was going to get run over, lol but was fine on the way back home, My walk is going to become a daily (school days) routine from here out, idk how far I walked but I kept a good pace for 20-25 min. Im planning on doing the race for the cure (5k) in October and by next October Im going to run it (in 27 min or less) I still have 10 lbs to go and hope to be really close by my birthday so I can by my new clothes. I will be saving my birthday money until I do reach my goal.
Some people may feel I cheated by taking pills, but that is far from the truth, I still had to make the healthier choices, still had to do the workouts, and have lost almost the same amount off the pills as I did on them. loosing weight is about saying no to fatty foods that you love, choosing water over coke, the light menu over the classic menu...Its the choices you make, not the pills you take. I am very proud of myself no matter what anyone may think of the help I had in the beginning.
